AI Schedule · University Timetable Management System
Completed · Final-year project
A university timetable management system designed to generate conflict-free schedules across departments, rooms, instructors, and academic constraints.
Overview
UniSched was developed as the final Bachelor's project at Kabul University and successfully defended. It combines a web-based scheduling workflow with a Python optimization engine.
01
Problem
University timetables must coordinate departments, rooms, instructors, and other requirements while avoiding scheduling conflicts.
02
Approach
The system models scheduling requirements as hard and soft constraints and uses Google OR-Tools CP-SAT, a constraint programming and optimization solver, to generate candidate timetables.
03
Responsibilities
Designed a constraint-based university scheduling system.
Integrated a Python scheduling engine with the Laravel and React web platform.
Modeled hard and soft scheduling constraints.
Designed a relational schema spanning 49 tables and implemented role-based access control.
Supported Dari and Pashto interfaces with RTL layouts.
Worked on data integrity, export, backup, technical documentation, ERDs, and UML class diagrams.
04
Key capabilities
Conflict-aware timetable generation across academic resources
Hard- and soft-constraint scheduling
Bilingual Dari and Pashto user interfaces with RTL support
Role-based access control
Data export and backup workflows
05
Architecture
Laravel, PHP, React, TypeScript, and Inertia.js web platform
Python scheduling engine integrated with the web application
Google OR-Tools CP-SAT constraint optimization
Relational database schema with 49 tables
06
Engineering work
Diagnosed scheduling algorithm behavior and translated academic requirements into constraint models.
Coordinated a Python-based optimization engine with the full-stack web platform.
Documented data relationships and application architecture with ERD and UML diagrams.
